TV-basierte Entrauschung von 3D Bildern mit Anwendung in der Fluoreszenzmikroskopie

Nina Schumacher, 2012, University of Münster (together with Prof. Martin Burger)

This thesis deals with the reconstruction of images corrupted by Poisson noise, which occurs in several applied sciences e.g. in medical imaging, such as fluorescence microscopy and positron emission tomography (PET), or in geophysics or astronomy. We combine expectation-maximization (EM) and total-variation (TV) to present an algorithm for computing images with homogeneous regions and sharp edges. Our approach is based on the minimization of the Kullback-Leibler divergence and we further verify the convergence of the algorithm. Finally, we present an implementation and apply it on several synthetic and experimental datasets in 2D and 3D. [pdf-file]
